Are you tired of the hustle and bustle of major resorts like Acapulco, Cancun, and Puerto Vallarta?  Would you like a more laid-back, less expensive, more culturally enriched vacation experience?  If so, the Condos Eglantina, the city of Puerto Escondido, and the state of Oaxaca, Mexico are for you.

 

The Eglantina complex consists of 2 buildings with a total of only 21 condo units.  The front structure contains 9 units and the back structure contains 12 units. The complex is anchored deep, high atop a bedrock cliff overlooking Puerto Escondido and the vast Pacific Ocean.  As you see from the lower pool palapa rooftop picture, it is quite a drop from the pool to the ocean.  The lower pool location offers magnificent views that you will not soon forget.  Observing schools of dolphins and families of whales swimming by in front of the condos is not uncommon.

 

Eglantina Unit #12

Unit #12 is located on the main floor of the tastefully landscaped Eglantina tropical grounds and features beautiful garden views, pool view, and ocean views.

 

                         

 

Unit #12 has approximately 1200 square feet of fully furnished living space plus a large terrace overlooking the middle pool.   There is a master bedroom with king-size bed, adjacent master bathroom, ample clothes closet, and luggage storage area. The guest room has 2 twin beds, large clothes closet and a guest bathroom. There is also a living room area, a dining room area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a laundry room with an automatic washer and dryer.  As you look over the photos I think you will agree that the accommodations are equal to or surpass most major Mexican resort properties.

Shopping

A very modern supermarket, named Ahorrara, is about a 10-minute walk, or $1.50 cab ride away.  City buses also run close by the condos and you can ride anywhere on their routes for approximately 30 cents.  Another food shopping alternative is the Mercado.  It is located about a 15-minute walk from the condos.  The Mercado offers many items including fresh poultry, seafood, beef, vegetables, flowers, as well as leather goods, jewelry, etc.  Fresh vegetables and meats arrive on Wednesday and Saturday.   Shopping at the Mercado is highly recommended as a unique cultural experience, and a tremendous value.  Souvenir, native handicraft, and clothing shops abound everywhere in the area.

Activities

Most people visit Puerto Escondido to enjoy the tropical weather and the beautiful beaches.  In fact, 8 various beaches are within walking distance of the Condos Eglantina. La Playa Zicatela is a world class surfing beach and is host to several prestigious competitions throughout the year.  The surf at Zicatela can be extremely dangerous at times so be careful.  La Playa Carrizalillo is a good swimming beach with many small restaurants under the dense palm trees.  La Playa Bacocho is a long, largely uninhabited beach and another place to be very careful about swimming.  Strong undertows exist there.

 

Other activities and site-seeing opportunities are available such as bird watching tours, horseback riding, boat tours, beautiful low cost ocean front restaurants, natural hot springs tour, a sea turtle hatchery and museum, coffee plantations, trips to Oaxaca City, and more.  Fishing is a bargain and it is not unusual to find yourself in a school of dolphins jumping out of the water and following the boat.  Catches include sailfish, marlin, mahi mahi, and various types of tuna.  For the more adventurous, trips to remote mountain villages to visit indigenous native populations, who still live much the same as they did hundreds of years ago, can also be arranged.

A 20% non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking.  The remaining 80% is due 30 days prior to arrival.  Please note the following restrictions: 1) No pets.  2) No children under 13 years of age.  3) No more than 4 persons per unit.
